Microsoft Cloud Workshop: Linux Lift & Shift
In this Microsoft Azure seminar, attendees will migrate a Linux-based application to the Azure Cloud. This will include the use of Azure IaaS Virtual Machines and Virtual Machine Scale Sets. You will also leverage the Azure as a service (PaaS) platform including Azure App Services (Web Apps) and Azure Database for MySQL

Teaching methodology
The course includes educational laboratories in which each student will be able to work in order to complete training exercises that will provide practical experience in using the instrument, for each of the topics covered during the course.
Who should participate
This seminar is aimed at Cloud Architects and IT professionals who have experience in architecture and design of solutions and infrastructures in cloud technologies and want to learn more about Azure and Azure services as described in the areas “About this course” and “Completing the course”. Participants in this seminar should also have experience in other non-Microsoft cloud technologies, meet the course prerequisites, and be willing to cross-train on Azure.
Prerequisites
Seminar content assumes level-300 architectural proficiency in infrastructure and solution design.

Students will be able to better implement a lift-shift IaaS architecture in Azure for improvement and cost savings. Furthermore:
- Migrate an optimized Azure IaaS
- Compare costs between Azure IaaS and Azure PaaS
- Configure SQL Database geo-replication
- Configure multi-region deployment

Modulo 1: Whiteboard Design Session – Linux Lift & Shift
- Review the customer case study
- Design a proof of concept solution
- Present the solution
Module 2: Hands-on Lab – Linux Lift & Shift
- Deploy the local OsTicket VM application
- Migrate to Azure IaaS VM scale sets and MySQL cluster
- Migrate the OsTicket application from Azure IaaS to PaaS
